Simple Joys

Man, this kid loves a bath! I love that she still enjoys a bath in the sink as much as she does the tub. Makes it soooo much easier all the way around. =) Funny that a sink full of water and a cup can make a baby this happy.

Happy 5th Birthday Chloe!

We helped Miss Chloe-bug celebrate her 5th birthday 'Barbie style' this past weekend. She seemed very pleased to be the center of attention, as she should be! The girls all enjoy Barbie, so it was a great theme for all of them. Noah was surrounded with girly-ness, poor dude. He managed to survive with the flying disc gun Mamaw brought for him and the Star Wars goodies Aunt Chrissy provided just for him. (He sends big thank you's out for that!). It was great to see everyone and to share a meal together. Looking forward to doing it all over again in a couple of weeks for little Miss Lydia's 3rd birthday!

Pink Cupcakes

Rachel had a play date with her little friend Audrey and they had so much fun together! They made pink cupcakes complete with frosting and all kinds of pink sprinkles, they painted each other's toes and fingernails, they blew bubbles and had fun playing dress up together in the playroom. The girls first met in their gymnastics class last spring. They also went to preschool together for the 2009-10 school year and became good friends. It's cute to watch them play.

Rachel's 1st Day Back At Preschool (4's Class)

Rachel had her first day back at preschool at The Learning Tree today. She was excited to get up and get ready and help pack her lunch in her new monkey lunch box this morning. I am so glad she seems to love school so much! She walked right in and greeted Ms. Kim, hung up her bags and headed for the carpet, just like last year. When I went to pick her up she had painted two pictures, drew and colored another, made a crown, played outside, listened to two books being read and played in purple sand. What a day! ;)

Miss Kate (and Pheebs) waiting for the '1st day' pictures to be over! =)

Love This Big Guy

He made it through the first week of school and says he has enjoyed it. He has a new friend named Vinny, who makes him laugh. He says he likes his teacher a lot, which makes us happy and he's already learning, so that is a great thing. He has recently discovered a new love of all things Harry Potter and I love that he likes it so much. Doug had picked up the LEGO Harry Potter XBox game and Noah loved it, which opened up the whole Harry Potter world for him. We watched the first movie a few weeks back and on a trip to the library last week we picked up the book - I was assuming we would read it together at night, but he started reading it on the way home and hasn't looked back. He only has 1 chapter left until he is finished with the book and he can't wait to start the second one. I'm so proud of him! I love that he loves to read and am amazed that he is reading thick paperback books at the age of 7! So awesome. Makes for a very happy mama. =)

Pushing the Baby

A new game of the girls -- The baby doll stroller is probably Kate's most favorite toy right now. She loves to push her dolls, her toys, her milk cup, her binky... what ever she has a whim to put in there... Rachel saw her crawl in there herself this morning and decided she would give her push around the house. They both loved it! The photos are a bit blurry - they were moving pretty fast though!
As for our big dude - he's been buried in his book - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He checked it out at the library and I thought we would read it together at night, but he had already 8 pages by the time we got home and he wasn't looking back. I'm proud of him. I hope he loves to read as much as I do!

First Day of 2nd Grade

(I snapped this picture at Orientation the other night.)

I just dropped Noah off at school this morning for his first day of second grade. That seems so unreal! I miss him already. It has been a great summer and it absolutely flew by. His new teacher's name is Mrs. Du Puy (Doo-Pea). He was excited to get ready this morning and go see his friends. There are a couple of kids in his class from Mrs. Bryant's room so he was happy to see them. I'm hoping he has a happy day. =)
Update:
Noah is home from school and said he had a good day. He said he likes his teacher and they got to have 2 recess periods today. He said they colored a raccoon, learned about science, did a math sheet and learned about the rules in the classroom. He said he loved his lunch (packed by mom). He also said he saw several of his friends from last year, even though they aren't in his homeroom anymore. I'm glad he seemed to enjoy his first day. =)

Ready for School

We've got all the supplies and Noah is all set! I can't believe my little guy starts 2nd grade tomorrow!
