Green Meadow -VS- Village Green Swim Meet

The kids swam awesome during the Village Green meet and Rachel won her first blue ribbon! She was so excited to take first during her heat of the 25 freestyle. Noah did awesome too and received a very close second during his 25 free. This is the last regular meet that they will get to swim in for the summer and we are so, so proud of both of them! They have both come such a long way from the beginning of the summer!

Easy Homemade Cherry Pies

The kids took over desert the other night. :) I remember making these with my mom when I was little. All you needed was a can of cresent dough and some cherry pie filling. The kids had a blast making their own pies and are already asking to make more - " maybe apple, next time!". So cute. Kate was even able to spoon her pie filling onto her dough and help crimp the edges with a fork. They loved the end result too - So yummy!

Green Meadow -VS- Knoxville Raquet Club Swim Meet

This was Rachel's very first swim meet! She was so nervous, I was afraid she wouldn't be able to swim, but she came through and did awesome! And now she has the confidence to swim the meets and knows that she can swim the entire lane without stopping. So very proud of her! So very proud of both the kids! Noah did a great job swimming also! He swam four events at this meet - 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, Freestyle Relay and the backstroke in the Medley Relay. Rachel swam 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 25 backstroke in the Medley Relay. Elisabeth Belter, the girl who gave the kids swim lessons last year was Rachel's buddy at the meet. Rachel followed her around just about the whole time. It was cute to watch and I was grateful that she had a friend to tag around with and keep her sorted out as she got ready for her events. I absolutely love watching them swim with the team.

Hornback Family Gathering - Summer 2011

The Hornback Families from Houston, Texas arrived on the 20th for a week long vacation at a cabin in Wears Valley. It was great to see everyone and get to spend time catching up. We hung out at their cabin and also had a picnic at Metcalf Bottoms where the kids had fun playing in the river, catching a big green caterpiller and checking out a snake that was resting on the river bank. So fun to see all the kids in action together - dancing, laughing, playing. The kids ages matched up pretty well and they all seemed to hit it off together.
