Chasing Fireflies

The kids have been ultra excited about fireflies and catching them. Knowing this was coming, I had saved an old salsa jar and poked holes in the lid for air. They loved running around trying to catch the fireflies and trying to get them into the jar without 'squishing' them. Rachel loves them, loves them in the jar, but refuses to touch them. Funny. Kate loves to try to catch them and never quite gets the hang of it just yet, but she loves to carry the jar (and hug the jar, and stare at the bugs, and shake the jar, etc...). Noah just loves to catch the bugs and look at them once they are in the jar. Love how much joy they get out of this simple thing. Love these kids. So much.

Girls Night

Friday night Doug went out of town for a bike ride and Noah was invited to spend the night at a friends house and go fishing (very cool!!), so the girls and I had a 'girls night'. Ha - We had Menchies, they got to pick out a 'girly' movie and have make overs. When all of that was done they got a shower (must have after make overs - lol) and we pitched the beach tent in our room. They had both requested to sleep with me and I just don't sleep with their little twisty, turny bodies in the bed. One of them, maybe, but not both of them... and I had to get up early to ice 6 dozen cupcakes. So, into the tent they went. They were out like a light and slept great! Happy girls in the morning when my alarm went off. Such giggly little girls. : )

Green Meadow vs SAC Swim Meet

Green Meadow swam against SAC this week and the kids did well. I took more video than photos this week. Rachel got her 2 win of the season and another BLUE ribbon! She was so, so excited to hear that she had won her race against 6 other girls. Noah strokes continue to improve. He's doing great, but when you jump age groups, you go from some of the fastest 8 & under kids and move up to the 9/10 age group and you have to get used to fighting for the win. He loves to swim breaststroke and is really good at it. He also swims backstroke and freestyle. We are so proud of both of them. They are really doing great! Kate was her usual silly self. It was so hot and her little pink cheeks show it!

I Can't Resist....

...this sweet, sweet face. Big floppy ears, big wet nose, smushed up cheeks. Love her.

Vacation Bible School 2012

The kids have had a ball this week attending Vacation Bible School at Alcoa First United Methodist Church. They enjoyed the lessons, the games, the crafts and they loved the singing! They got to bring home a cd with all the songs they would be singing that we have been listening to in the car. Today was their last day attending and I think they know all the words to all the songs. Love this.

Green Meadow vs Village Green Swim Meet

The kids had a swim meet on Thursday between Green Meadow and Village Green. It was the first time for either of the kids to swim breast stroke in a meet. They both did really good! We were proud of both of them for trying so hard at a new stroke. They both seem to enjoy swimming breast stroke and it's pretty cool because that was always my best stroke. It's good to see them swimming it out there in the same pool that I swam in. It was super hot and the very end of the meet was canceled due to lightning. A bit of a bummer, but we finished up the night by stopping for some pizza. Happy night for all of us!
