Christmas Trees, Santa and the Emergency Room

Wow, it's been a busy day. We started the day with heading out to find the perfect Christmas tree and it wasn't too hard this year. They must just be able to grow trees better here in Georgia, because the little shop we started at today - all the trees were nice. They had little ones all the way up to giants. Much to our surprise when we went in to pay for our tree who did we find? Santa Claus! The kids were excited to see him and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. It was cute - all Rachel asked for was a candy cane (which Santa quickly treated her with) and Noah told him he wanted Batman wings and a Nerf gun. He later told me that he forgot to tell Santa the rest of his list. I let him know that that is why we write Santa letters. ;) After heading home and putting the tree in the house (to be decorated tomorrow) we headed out for a play date at the castle park followed by dinner at Chick-fil-a. Of course after we ate the kids wanted to play some more in the playland there and I was watching closely when I saw Rachel run dead into the corner of a bench with her face... ugh. After hugging her and trying to calm her she had a walnut sized, bright blue knot on the side of her head by her eye... She was a bit lethargic so I decided to take her on to the ER... It's just a good head banging though and after some Tylenol, an ice pack, a check up with the doc, and a purple popcicle we were headed home. It makes me realize how fragile (yet resilient these little people are). I'm just glad she's only got a pretty bad headache and the probability of a black eye.

God love her.... that's such a scary thing for us as parents. When emma was about 16 months I was chasing her through the house playing the big monster when she tripped and went head first into the coffee table. The very sharp corner smacked her right between the eyes and she had an indention, not a knot. Very scary but she's got a hard head like her momma... er... daddy i mean. Glad she's ok!
