We took Noah to see Dr.Martin today and to check on a plan for his teeth as far as braces go. He was definitely a bit nervous. I'm not really sure why, beyond the idea that braces hurt. Doug and I (and all the people we talked to at the Orthodontist's office) tried to convince him it really isn't bad - it just feels a little sore when they adjust the braces.... They took x-rays and he did think it was super cool to see his head and the shape of all his teeth on the projector screen. The path Dr. Martin chose for Noah is for him to have a built in bottom appliance (retainer that can't be removed) and for bands to be put on the back molars on top and for him to sleep in head gear for about 4 to 5 months. Now, we later found out that THIS --
is exactly what flashed into Noah's mind when he heard 'head gear' and it's truly no wonder he teared up in the office. Poor guy. We were quick to reassure him and show him what the real thing looks and feels like. He felt much, much better after that. He gets the first 'phase' of his braces on March 4th.
