Snow Day -- No School =)

School was canceled today due to the snow on the ground and possible icing of the roads after low temperatures last night. You gotta love the south for that... I remember living in Michigan and Iowa with a couple of feet of snow on the ground and having to go to work... I was like "WHAT?!?!" when it hadn't been canceled --after all, I grew up in the south... where they cancel school for a 1/2 an inch of snow. So we spent the morning outside building a snowman and having snowball fights. The kids both tried to make snow angels, but the snow was just a bit too crusted over due to the little bit of rain that fell the night before. Phoebe enjoyed being outside more than ever chasing snowballs we were throwing and trying to catch the ones in her mouth that we threw to her. That dog just loves being in the snow. We were all happy to see Doug/Daddy come out and throw a snowball or two along with us - until I realized he was out there in barefeet and sandals.... only Doug... ;) By 3 this afternoon most of our snow was gone. I had the kids play in it as much as they liked as it is a rare occasion that we get snow this far south. I have a few videos I'm going to try to upload - So stay tuned!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Doug and I really didn't believe the weather forcasters last night when they said we would have snow today, I mean, after all... we do live south of Atlanta... but look what happened....! It started snowing around 11am after about three days of rain. The kids were so excited to see the big white flakes falling that they couldn't get outside fast enough. I was happy to help them bundle up quickly for fear it would stop snowing as soon as it had started, but luckily it stayed all day and we still have a bit on the ground tonight. Noah was running up to his friend Hunters as soon as I let him out the door, but I was able to snap a couple of pictures of him as he took off telling me they were going to play Star Wars on the planet Hoth (after all, you can only play Hoth when there is snow on the ground Mom!). Rachel was so happy to just run around the front yard and in circles, telling me she was ice skating. She was so happy to be out in the snow and kept lifting her head to catch snowflakes on her tongue. Can you tell how happy Phoebe was to play out in the snow? Can you tell that our crazy dog was born in Michigan? She was running around like crazy until it thundered a bit and then she couldn't run into the house fast enough. After too long we had to head inside for a Hot Chocolate (and hot coffee for the adults) break. Yum! As odd as it was, I'm so glad the kids got a day to play in the snow! =)

Mommy's Rescue Haircut

After a couple of days to think over what we wanted to do with Rachel's hair and putting in a pony tail and messy buns I decided to see what I could do with it after her bath tonight. I just trimmed it around from the sides to the back and kind of tapered it around cutting a few inches off of the very back so it didn't look quite so severe. She's happy, Doug seems to like it and I'm sastisfied until it grows a bit and we can go have it reshaped again.

Heartbroken

Yesterday while I was on a short phone call with the neighbor Rachel decided to play "Beauty Shop" and cut her own hair. Doug later said that she came up to him while he was at the computer and said "Look Daddy, look at my hair!" but it just looked like she had just pulled her pony tail out and he didn't realize what had happened... Later as I was walking through the dining room to my desk I found piles of red hair scattered all over the floor... After calling her in and closely examining her hair I saw that it had been, well, honestly, butchered. Poor girl. I immediately burst into tears (okay, blaming the raging pregnancy hormones here) and that made her burst into tears. That was all it took - no spanking needed... I think she was as heartbroken as I was when I explained that her princess hair was gone and that now we would need to get the rest of her hair cut and shaped to try to make it blend with what she had already cut. It doesn't look like she cut that much off, but when you stretch the curls out it was actually very long and she took several inches off of the left side. She also scalped a section of her bangs and took a bit off of the right side as well. You'll notice that she does not look happy in most of the pictures above... and please note that all pairs of scissors have been removed from any art stations or desks and placed where little hands can't reach them.

Birthday Party!!

We had a couple of friends over today to help celebrate Noah's birthday along with us and his Grammy and Papa. It was fun to see them get excited about everything and see them play together. The boys ran around with lightsabers most of the time they were here, bounced in the bounce house, and checked out the video games. We had pizza, cake and ice cream and then the kids busted a pinata with their lightsabers. I think Noah really had a nice day. Thanks again to everyone who came to the party and thanks to Grammy and Papa for their visit. We really had a great time!
**Can you tell Noah is about to lose yet another tooth!?! That front one is just hanging there by a thread...
