They both have colds...

But they are pretty happy and playing. Rachel is pulling up on everything and starting to furniture walk. Noah's busy trying to keep Rachel out of his toys (although sometimes he does give in and 'tries' to let her play). He would love to have someone to play trains with, but not exactly someone to chew on train track with...

'X' Marks the Spot!

This is one of the cutest things I have watched in a long time. Our friends Bob and Nan hid a treasure on one of the islands out at the lake and then created and hid a pirate's map for the boys to 'happen' upon on our way down to the boat yesterday. The boys had a blast reading the map and tracking the treasure. When we found the island it was buried on they had to follow the steps to find where the 'X' marked the spot. It was guarded by two big snakes! Once they got past the snakes they had to dig, dig, dig to get to the good stuff. They were both so excited to unearth the chest full of gold (chocolate) coins, pirate's jewelry, big shiney jewels, goldmine gold nugget bubblegum, sticky eyeballs, tattoos, fish pens, gummy worms, and lots and lots of other cool treasures. The boys had sooo much fun and it was really a cute thing to watch as they went about it. Thanks again to Bob & Nan!

Ready for School

Noah before school this morning. Today is his first 'Lunchbox Kids' day where he stays until 2:30 and got to take his lunch. He also had to take a teddybear to school today as they are talking about body parts and the bears are the models. Had to throw a quick picture of our baby girl in there too - jammies and all!

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha!

Our smallest cutie brushing her teeth. She loves it because she accomplishes two of her favorite things - shoving something in her mouth and then chewing on it (or rather biting it as hard as she can - those little teeth hurt!).

Sandbox Weather

It seems like now that September is here Noah would rather play in the sandbox than the pool. When it was so hot, all we wanted to do outside is play in the water... but now that the weather is enjoyable again it is fun for the kids to swing and play in the sand. Today I put Rachel in the sandbox for the first time. She wasn't too sure that she liked it at first. She wrinkled her nose up at it for the first few minutes and didn't want to touch it at all. Soon though she would dip her finger in and stir it around a bit. That's as far as she got. She sat in the sandbox for about 10 minutes before it started to rain and never did more than dip in one finger. It surprised me that she didn't try to eat it (everything goes into her mouth these days), but not so. Noah loves the sandbox and tried to show Rachel all the cool things to do while playing in it. I love to watch him as he tries to teach her to play like him. He is a sweet big brother.

28

Back in the even numbers - I like the even numbers. It was a fun birthday - I made a tiny birthday cake and Noah had a ball licking the beaters, helping me ice the cake, and also sneaking bites of icing when he thought we weren't looking. Doug and I got to go out on a date last night to dinner and a movie, thanks to some good friends of ours and it was nice to not worry about the kids while we were out. Rachel gave me a great gift - she fell asleep snuggled up in my arms... that never happens. The girl likes to be put in her crib and soothe herself to sleep. She has never been a 'snuggler' so when we get the chance, we love every minute of it. Definitely a good day. =)

Silly Girl

More like 'Busy Girl' - She doesn't stop moving until she falls asleep - she always was like that, even before she was born. She loves the tunnel and tent now. She was a little leary of it when I first got it out, but after chasing a ball through it a few times she loves crawling through it as fast as she can now. It's funny to watch her play in it and Noah loves to chase her through it.

Funny Faces

I don't know where these expressions come from... but something was definitely going on in both these pictures! Noah was about 9 months old when this picture of him was taken and Rachel was the same age in hers. I think it is hilarious to look at these two pictures... definitely a his & hers moment. We used to laugh so hard we would almost cry when Noah would make his face and hers is no less funny.

The Bubbles Gazmo

Noah had a lot of fun with this crazy bubble blower. It's just a fan attached to a bunch of bubble wands, but Noah thought it was really cool. He could blow a ton of bubbles just by pushing the little button. Fun stuff.

2 New Teeth - She's got 8 now!

Rachel is getting two new teeth again - for a grand total of eight now. The two lower lateral incisors are coming in at the same time. That's how they have all come in - in twos. She doesn't do too badly with the teething - just a little fussiness and almost no drool (yay for that!).

1, 2, 3 - JUMP!

A few more pictures from the lake. Noah has really had a blast with the boat and swimming in the lake this summer. He has gone from being shy of the water to practically jumping in as soon as the boat stops. We love that he loves the water so much. Rachel seems much the same - she adores her little boat float and kicks her little feet like crazy.
