Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween night! We all enjoyed it here in our little town - taking the kids out trick or treating with their Grammy and Papa. Noah loved having them along and Rachel thought she was just the cat's meow as she rode along in our wagon looking cute and eating suckers. It was her first wagon ride and she loved it - grinning and bouncing along the whole way. She was the cutest 'chick' we saw all night! Noah enjoyed trick or treating this year and even liked helping hand out the candy after we got back. Happy Halloween!!
Our Jack-o-lanterns - We added a new one this year with it being Rachel's first Halloween. Noah drew his own design for his face this year, which is a first. He was so excited to be involved and was playing with the pen while we were cutting tops out of the pumpkins. He drew his face on and showed us and we were so proud of him! Doug cut it out just as he had drawn it on the pumpkin. Rachel wasn't shy of her pumpkin - she stuck her hand right in to check out the icky-sticky insides. She probably would have eaten a fist full of the yucky stuff if we'd let her. She'll eat anything! ;)
Noah and Braxton had a blast decorating Halloween cookies the other night. They were so funny about having the decorations just right and then ofcourse, there was always the need for more icing! More icing always makes a cookie taste so much better. Yes, it was messy, but man was it fun!
They found the stash... the treats for the trick or treaters (okay, it wasn't really that hard to find). They were so cute picking through all the loot and looking for what they wanted. Rachel picked out a tootsie pop (or two) and Noah loves the Scooby Doo suckers. Noah is really getting excited about Halloween and trick or treating. He knows that Halloween will bring his Grammy and Papa to town and he asks everyday if Halloween is tomorrow yet? Sunday night we'll attend Boo at the Zoo with our friends Ramona and Braxton. It will be our 'practice' trick or treat run as the kids are encouraged to wear their costumes and trick or treat while they are there. Good times.
Here are some photos from Noah's "Happy Fall" party today. Halloween isn't celebrated at Noah's school, so it was a fall festival of sorts. It was cute to be able to go and be a part of it and watch as they all had fun. They ate yummy treats, played games and Noah's favorite- sang lots of songs. You can see him singing the 5 Little Apples song above and doing the hand motions with it. I love to see him having fun.
Could today have been any crazier? No. But you know what, it's ok. It's okay, because moments like this - like this one you can see above - of Noah reading his books to me and all of his animals - makes all the craziness worth it.
How cool is it that Noah got to see Eli Manning, Tiki Barber, Terrell Owens, and lots of other great players play at Monday Night Football? We had a great time at the game last night even though the Cowboys got killed by the Giants. Noah seemed to have a great time, as did Doug and I. Rachel hung out too, snoozing here and there and people watching. She did more flirting than watching football. A few pictures of what was happening at the game, the kids playing at the hotel, and we even got to have our old favorite - Steak 'N Shake. As for the Cowboys losing the game... as Noah said last night... "We'll get 'em next time!".
Noah was so sweet tonight driving Rachel around in his car. I sat her in it to see what she would do and she thought it was pretty cool. When Noah saw me push her around he wanted to help. He was concentrating hard on trying to go slow and be very careful, since she could slide out of the bottom at any time. She loved it! She loved having him push her and he showed her the buttons, how to turn the key, the gear shifter and the horn. She adores him.
I love this time of year - Fall weather, all the warm colors, Halloween, the beginning of the holidays. The kids love playing with the pumpkins and seeing the decorations all over our neighborhood. Noah is excited about trick or treating (hopefully he'll say it as loud to our neighbors as he does to us). We told him he could dress up as anything he wanted - Guess what he picked? Thomas - of course... Rachel will be making her Halloween debut as a chicken. That costume is too funny. Fun stuff.
I love to see Noah and Rachel play together. They are really beginning to enjoy each other (okay, as long as Rachel does not touch the train track or trains...). Noah loves to crawl along and tell Rachel, follow me! follow me! He loves to have her chase him and she loves it too.
